Prof. Ewa Michna

Prof. Ewa Michna

 

Prof. Ewa Michna holds an M.A. Sociology from the Institute of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University (1993); her dissertation Łemkowie. Grupa etniczna czy naród? (“The Lemkos: An Ethnic Group or a Nation?”) was published in book form in 1995. She defended her Ph.D. in Sociology (Ruch Rusiński na Słowacji, Ukrainie i w Polsce; “The Ruthenian Movement in Slovakia, Ukraine, and Poland”) at the Jagiellonian University’s Department of Philosophy (2001) under the supervision of Prof. Grzegorz Babiński(published as a book in 2004). Prof. Michna became an Associate Professor of Sociology at Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences PAU (2013).

  • Discipline Council for Sociological Sciences
  • Dean's commission for awards for the best diploma theses
  • Representative of the Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies, Jagiellonian University, for student questionnaires at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora (since 2008).
  • Member of the Faculty’s Team for the Quality of Education at the Faculty of International and Political Studies (since 2011).
  • Membership in organizations: PAU Commission on Eastern Europe; PAU Commission for the Studies of Polish Diaspora; Polish Sociological Association, Section of Social Anthropology.
  • She is an expert in minority affairs at the committee of the Ministry of Administration and Digitization considering applications for granting subsidies to projects aiming at the protection, preservation, and development of national and ethnic minorities as well as regional languages.
