Sándor Czeglédi is an associate professor at the English and American Studies Institute (EASI), University of Pannonia (Veszprém, Hungary), where he teaches a variety of courses on American history, civilization, language (education) policy and applied linguistics. In his book entitled Language Policy, Language Politics and Language Ideology in the United States (Pannonian University Press, 2008) he analyzed the language-related policy proposals and enacted policies of the 107th and 108th Congress to determine the nature and depth of language ideological shifts in the wake of 9/11. He has published several articles on the Official English movement, language-related myths, bilingual education, language rights and language ideologies, which appeared in scholarly journals (e.g. Americana--E-Journal of American Studies in Hungary; Hungarian Journal of Applied Linguistics (HJAL); TOPOS—Journal of Space and Humanities; Hungarian Journal of English and American Studies (HJEAS)) as well as in academic publications by the University of Wroclaw/Polish Academy of Sciences; the University of Oradea; the University of Banja Luka; and Cambridge Scholars Publishing. His current research interests are focused on the interplay between nation-building and language politics during the early years of the American Republic.
