2022 Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has been widely coined as ‘the first full-scale war since the World War II’. While designed by Russia as the local conflict, it was met with worldwide response. Its origins, course and possible implications for Russia, Ukraine, and widely defined Transatlantic Community will be a subject of conversation of Ambassador Daniel Fried (The Atlantic Council) and Kamil Turecki (onet.pl), to be followed by Q&A session.
Ambassador Daniel Fried is Weiser Family Distinguished Fellow at The Atlantic Council. Between 1997 and 2017 he was a member of the U.S. Foreign Service and served as special assistant and NSC senior director for Presidents Clinton and Bush, ambassador to Poland, and assistant secretary of state for Europe (2005-09), Ambassador Fried crafted the policy of NATO enlargement to Central European nations and, in parallel, NATO-Russia relations, thus advancing the goal of Europe whole, free, and at peace.
Kamil Turecki received MA from the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora of the Jagiellonian University. He is a journalist affiliated with Onet.pl, where he covers international affairs. He recently authored “Przerwane milczenie. Na gruzach World Trade Center” (2021). In 2022, he received Maciej Płażyński Award for media and journalist service to Polish Diaspora.
