This webinar organised by the Migration Policy Centre at the EUI and the Centre of Migration Research at the University of Warsaw will analyse the effects of and responses to the large-scale displacement of refugees from Ukraine with a particular focus on Poland. By March 6th, more than 1.7 million people had been forced to flee Ukraine in the fastest refugee flow since World War Two. The numbers will grow considerably in the coming days and weeks. Of these refugees, over 1 million had arrived in Poland. There has been an extraordinary mobilisation by citizens across the EU to support Ukrainian refugees while the EU has agreed temporary protection measures for displaced Ukrainians.
Speakers will consider the situation at the Ukraine-Poland border; the current situation on-the-ground in Poland; implications for longer-term reception; and wider implications for European/EU approaches to asylum and refugees.
