„We will talk with Natalia Santiesteban about her book, 'The color of the mirror: life narratives of black women in Bogotá' (2017). This book understands the self-representation of black women as an opposition to the imposition of a national narrative that ignores or stereotypes our cultural performances and productions. For them, self-representation is to create and recreate from their own identifications and with their own aesthetic and intellectual resources. Colombian black history and culture in all its polyphony, is to make use of its subjective agency to acquire political and cultural existence as black women, in all our diversity, within Colombian society."
