Relacje amerykańsko-niemieckie 

25 marca w Instytucie Goethego w Krakowie odbędzie się  konferencja naukowa na temat stosunków amerykańsko-niemieckich. Prezentacje będą dotyczyć kwestii politycznych, społecznych i ekonomicznych.   

Celem konferencji jest atrakcyjne ukazanie stosunków niemiecko-amerykańskich z kilku perspektyw. Chcemy, aby interdyscyplinarne ujęcie tej problematyki przybliżyło ją wszystkim zainteresowanym przemianami we współczesnym świecie.

Program konferencji obejmują takie tematy, jak: „Od miłości do nienawiści – historia Germanii i wujka Sama. Historia stosunków amerykańsko-niemieckich", „Jak Europa i Ameryka radzą sobie z kryzysem – społeczne polityczne aspekty światowego kryzysu gospodarczego", „Amerykański chciwy Shylock – antyamerykanizm w Niemczech", „ Znaczenie religii w czasach współczesnych – adnotacje do procesu sekularyzacji w kulturze zachodniej". Każdej prezentacji towarzyszyć będzie dyskusja moderowana przez prelegentów.

Konferencja jest organizowana w ramach programu "Scholars In Residence" realizowanego przez  Instytut Goethego w Krakowie oraz Uniwersytet w Essen. Prelegenci to doktorzy i doktoranci z uniwersytetu w Bochum, Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego w Krakowie oraz Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego.

Organizatorzy:  Instytut Goethego, Instytut Kulturoznawczy w Essen, Instytut Amerykanistyki i Studiów Polonijnych Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego oraz Towarzystwo Doktorantów  Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego.

American-German relations

On 25th March 2011 will be a conference on US-German relations at the Goethe Institute in Cracow. Presentations will address contemporary political, social and economic issues.

This conference aims at spotlighting and critical rethinking some omnipresent issues in German-American relations from an interdisciplinary perspective and helps to improve our understanding of social, economical, cultural and religious changes in the modern world.. The conference agenda includes topics such as: "From Love to Hate Story of Germania and Sam – History of American-German Relations", "How Europe and America deals with crisis? – Social and political aspects of the world's economic crisis", "American greedy Shylock – Anti-Americanism in Germany", How does religion matter today? - Annotations to the process of secularization in the Western culture". Each presentation will be accompanied by a discussion moderated by the speakers.

The conference is organized by fellows of the "Scholars in Residence" that is organised by the Goethe Institute in Krakow and the Institute for Advanced Study in Humanities in Essen. Speakers are poc-docs and doctoral students from the University of Bochum, Jagiellonian University inKrakow and Warsaw University. The conference is also facilitated by the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora, Jagiellonian University and the Association of Doctoral Students of the Jagiellonian University.
