Our library is a continuation of the library of the Institute of Polish Diaspora and Ethnic Studies and was incorporated into the structure of the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora in 2004. It was established in 1976 and originally focused on the problems of Polish communities abroad, with the particular emphasis of the Polish Diaspora in the U.S. At the same time the library holdings were successively expanded to include publications on Poles living on other continents, on ethnic minorities in Poland and outside Poland, on migration, stereotypes, identity, borderlands. Most of the items collected are of historical and sociological nature. A small percentage of the books available were written in English and published abroad. The journals / magazines section not only contains the leading Polish newspapers, but also foreign titles presenting current research on ethnic migration carried out abroad. In 2010, the library was enriched with the books donated by Prof. Feliks Gross from the United States. We always try to help less-oriented readers reach the literature they are looking for. Our greatest joy is when readers frequently come and say "this book is available only in your library". Feel welcome to come and check out.
