Rita E. Kuckertz

Special Seminar presented by the Jagiellonian University in Poland, in collaboration with Justice in Mexico at the University of San Diego, as part of the 6th OASIS International Symposium.

The aim of this Special Seminar is to present the report:
Forced Confessions: Tracking Torture and Mistreatment in Mexico's Accusatorial Criminal Justice System by Rita E. Kuckertz from the Justice In Mexico.

As it is almost four years since the introduction of the NSJP (Nuevo Sistema de Justicia Penal) in Mexico, these are also years of growing violence and the increasing number of human rights violation cases. In this circumstances, it seems very important to ask the question what role in this play  tortures and various forms of mistreatment? During this special Seminar the Author of the report will present it's main findings that will give all participants the possibility to discuss it.

The event is a joint initiative of the Insititute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora at the Jagiellonian University, the "Mexican Center" at the Jagiellonian University and the Justice in Mexico at the University of San Diego.
