Dear Friend and Colleague,

The Fund for American Studies, Georgetown University, and Charles University take pride in presenting the premier academic program in Central and Eastern Europe, The American Institute on Political and Economic Systems (AIPES). This past summer, AIPES had 109 students from 32 countries.

This Institute, located in Prague, Czech Republic, has been giving future-leaders from Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the United States the opportunity to explore the political, economic, and cultural issues of the world as it grows under democratic principles for nearly two decades. Students study the basic foundations of a free society and are encouraged to apply these concepts to the transitions already taking place in their home countries. For its participants, both graduate and undergraduate credit is available from Georgetown University upon successful completion of the program.

It is very important that AIPES has a qualified and diverse student body, and your continued assistance in accomplishing this is very helpful. As a valuable resource for the leaders of tomorrow, you can assist us in recruiting outstanding students for AIPES. We invite you to recommend participants for the program by either forwarding this email to qualified candidates or by filling out an online nomination form.

This scholarship fund provides a unique educational opportunity to exceptional Polish students, and allow these young leaders to come to Washington, D.C., to attend The Fund's summer programs.

Instituted in November of 2010 by The Rosenstiel Foundation (headed by Lady Blanka Rosenstiel), The Tadeusz Kościuszko Scholarship will be a legacy to a great 18th century military leader of both American and Polish causes. His lifetime dedication to liberty and constitutional government will shine brightly through the Polish students who receive scholarships to attend our American Institute on Political and Economic Systems (AIPES) in Prague from this endowment.

The Scholarship stands at the $10,000 just donated by Lady Blanka. It takes $90,000 to fully endow it so it will continue in perpetuity. Also, 5% of the balance will be awarded next year to a Polish student to go to Prague's three week institute. One accepted Polish student will be awarded $500 for the AIPES 2011 Institute.

If you are interested in making a donation to these scholarships, please contact TFAS VP of Development, Mr. Edward Turner.
