What is the admissions process?

The admission process for American Studies 2nd degree, specialty: Latin America (studies in Polish) at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora takes place through our Online Application System. More information on admissions can be found at the Admissions Department website.

About what?

This two-year study programme gives a broad knowledge of Latin American societies and states from the Rio Grande to Tierra del Fuegeo, from the Caribbean to the Andes. With us you will learn about fascinating social, cultural, political, economic and legal phenomena related to the Latin America.

You will gain knowledge about (among others):

  • The specificities of the dynamic transformation of Latin American states and societies,
  • Modern ethno-racial structure,
  • The history of the pre-Columbian American civilizations
  • Latin American history from colonial to modern times.

After studies?

Our graduates have extensive knowledge of the functioning of Latin American societies, political systems, international relations in the region and the richness of cultures. They are able to explore, explain and predict the role of social, political and economic structures in modern Latin American societies, especially in comparative terms. They are aware and prepared to both initiate and perform various tasks in larger groups and social organizations. They are well prepared to work both in the private (e.g. in Latin American companies, transnational corporations, media) and public sectors (e.g. government and non-governmental social, cultural and political institutions, diplomacy).
