Establishing cooperation with LSE IDEAS - a world-renowned think tank

Faculty of International and Political Studies has established cooperation with the world-renowned LSE IDEAS think tank.

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is one of the most important, prestigious, and influential universities in the field of social sciences and humanities in the world. IDEAS - an expert center in the field of strategy, diplomacy, and global issues was established in 2008. According to the latest international rankings, it ranks first in the category of the best university think tank in the world.

"LSE IDEAS is LSE’s foreign policy think tank. We connect academic knowledge of diplomacy and strategy with the people who use it. "

The agreement concerns extensive research, expert, didactic, and organizational cooperation under one of the IDEAS programs: Central and South-East Europe Program, in particular:

  • research and educational cooperation,
  • organization of joint conferences, seminars, and workshops,
  • joint presentation of research results,
  • mobility of scientists, students, and administration staff, including establishing Visiting Fellows status for Faculty of International and Political Studies employees at LSE IDEAS and for LSE IDEAS employees at Faculty of International and Political Studies,
  • activities promoting science, expertise, and civil society.

The agreement provides for the establishment of the IDEAS Desk LSE Center, analogous to that of the first IDEAS partner in the region at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Administration and Communication of the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Prof. Łukasz Kamieński is the initiator of the contract, its negotiator, and the person responsible for implementation on our side.

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic thwarted the original plans, limiting joint activities to cyberspace for now. As part of the LSE IDEAS Ratiu Forum, a blog devoted to the situation in Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe during the Covid-19 pandemic was inaugurated. One of the first published posts is a comment by Professor Paweł Laidler from the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora: "Polish electoral games in times of pandemic".
