American Studies Student Academic Society

 

The American Studies Academic Circle was officially formed in 2004. After nearly a year's break it was reactivated began its active and thriving operation in November 2006. The American Studies Academic Circle gathers in majority BA and MA students who study at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora, Jagiellonian University.

The main objectives and tasks of the Circle include: developing academic interest of American studies students, conducting research related to the United States of America, integration and activation of the student community, engaging students in academic work and research and promote knowledge of the U.S. (also outside the Circle's structures). The Circle achieves its objectives through meetings with experts and researchers, the organization of conferences and seminars as well as cooperation and exchange of experience with other academic circles and student organizations.

Currently, the Circle has over 50 members. Eight sections operate within the Circle:

  • Photography section (Head: Joanna Łyczko)
  • Literature section (Head: Justyna Bachniak)
  • Film section (Head: Maciej Badura)
  • Canada section (Head: Olga Franiak)
  • Debate club (Head: Olga Horbowy)
  • Newsletter (Head: Dominika Pietrzyk)
