Cautious optimism in transatlantic relations? The future of the US-EU relations under Biden’s administration

Daniel Fried is a retired American diplomat, best known for his service as United States Ambassador to Poland from 1997 to 2000. Besides that, his over forty-year Foreign Service career makes him a key figure in implementing American policy in Europe, including Central and Eastern Europe, after the fall of the Soviet Union. Among other duties, he was previously employed at National Security Council as special assistant for Presidents Clinton and Bush and Assistant Secretary of State for European affairs. He previously served in Leningrad from 1980-81, Belgrade from 1982-85, and Warsaw from 1990-93. Ambassador Fried is currently a Weiser Family Distinguished Fellow at the Atlantic Council. He is also on the Board of Directors of the National Endowment for Democracy and a Visiting Professor at Warsaw University.
